This holiday season has been a whirlwind of homecomings, surprises and feasts! My brothers came home and for the first time in years, we were all complete at the Christmas table. Of course, there was the added pleasure of the feast with significant others, better halves and my very own three contributions to the human race: Oona, Olly and Eva.
My Mom, my sister and I were all set for planning a simple Noche Buena for Christmas Eve and quietly opening small presents for the kids. In retrospective, it had been a blessed but tough year so we were happy with having everyone home for the holidays and totally not expecting more. Then, lovely food and an avalanche of presents for the kids started arriving as the 24th came nearer. I was simply overwhelmed with the goodwill and generosity of friends and family as we were showered with blessings left and right! The foot of our little Christmas tree simply overflowed and the Christmas board came near to groaning.
It started with the luscious Premium Honey Glazed Ham from Frabelle arriving while the hubby and I were at a much needed family getaway in Subic with the kids (another gift from the Universe!). My mom thought I won a raffle and told me as soon as I came home that a mystery ham had arrived by messenger. Haha!
Well, among other things, this unexpected blessing really made me feel like the universe was showering me with “raffle surprises”!
Anyhoo, finding out what sort of ham this was, I was glad that it has currently “escaped” being carved for Christmas and is instead being reserved for our New Year’s feast
It would, no doubt, go perfectly well with the proposed wine, cheese, fruits, fresh salad and maybe, some chocolates for dessert! Yes, we still have a simple celebration in mind to ring in the New Year but the ham is demanding that the holiday feasting be brought up a notch!
Made from premium meat and not from scraps and left-overs, Frabelle Foods’ Premium Honey Glazed Ham is smoked using real wood chips. Then one by one, the hams are topped with loads of honey and sugar that are blowtorched to caramelized perfection. (I had no idea that this was how it’s really supposed to be done!) The intense heat makes sure that the sweetness permeates right through and enhances the succulent flavors of the meat.
I’m so excited to carve that ham up in so many different ways. I can think of sandwiches, salads, roast cuts… Hopefully we all don’t give into the temptation of breaking the ham out before Media Noche arrives! Updates and photos to follow DEFINITELY!
